Anita Widjaja

Director

Anita Widjaja has been the instructor and owner of the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Santa Cruz for five years. She has a bachelor's degree in math from the University of Pittsburg and master's degree in applied mathematics from the University of Colorado. Prior to becoming an instructor, Anita served as a teaching assistant for college students in math, and was also in charge of the math module program at UC Boulder Mathematics dept. She is currently a member of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) and Santa Cruz Chamber of Commerce. Anita is an active parent of two, pianist at her church and volunteers once a week at the local school library.

Anita was first introduced to Kumon by a math professor who witnessed Kumon students studying college level math in elementary school. While researching supplemental learning programs for her two sons, Anita turned to Kumon and fell in love. After witnessing her own sons' success, Anita decided to combine her passion for teaching and love for mathematics as a Kumon Instructor. Anita says, "The most rewarding part of my job is making a difference in students' lives and watching them grow as individuals. The more confident they become with learning, the more likely they are to succeed in other activities and life."
